Jackson Mackay

Jackson Mackay
HEATWAVE COUNTRY’S EUROPEAN CORRESPONDENT

Jackson was born in Alsace, in the foothills of the Vosges Mountains in France, spending his early years on his grandfather’s farm and with his family band “The Sock Songs”. He left home in 1980 to begin his musical career, touring all over Europe and, in addition, was doing studio sessions, live TV shows, and composing soundtracks, gaining valuable experience and respect in the music industry.

But his biggest musical revelation came during a long trip through Australia a few years ago. While staying at Malakoff Station near Cloncurry, he heard Lee Kernaghan’s songs and Australian Country Music for the very first time. It was the beginning of a great adventure. Back home, deeply inspired by Lee and photos of the outback, he wrote his first songs “The Lonely Bushman”, “This is Love”, and then his first album “The Game”, recorded in 1997 by Skip Mitchell at The Reflections Studio in Nashville, TN. Over the years Jackson Mackay has earned the reputation as one of Europe’s best Country Music performers, gaining many awards along the way, but he has never forgotten what Australian Country Music brought to him: a sound, a spirit, and the inspiration of honest people living in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Even now, at every one of his shows, he sings songs by Lee Kernaghan or Troy Cassar-Daley!!

Jackson joins the Heatwave Country team as our European Correspondent, giving us access to the best material and artists coming out of the European country music scene.
